Avin Ramesh KV  Course Rep for MSc Fire Safety Engineering Y1

 “I love being the voice for my classmates—attending meetings with staff and our course director to bring forward their ideas and concerns. It’s incredibly rewarding to witness how our input shapes the course experience. With students already thrilled by the engaging curriculum and industry expertise we’re exposed to, I’m dedicated to making sure that this momentum continues strong until the very end. Together, we’re making our voices heard and building an enriching learning journey for all!”

 

Caitlin-Rose Lowry BSc Marketing Student and Department Representative for Global Business and Enterprise

“In my role so far, I’ve really enjoyed engaging with all the students within my department and getting to support them in their student learning experience. 

The thing I’m looking forward to most this year as a rep is getting involved in the Learning and Teaching Awards this year. It’s definitely my favourite event of the year as it helps showcase some of our talented staff and student reps who have worked to improve Ulster University throughout 24/25 academic year. 

The biggest thing I want to achieve this year is helping to improve student engagement with the UUSU, whether that be through societies or quiz nights, helping them find the resources they need in order to make the most out of UU.”

“I enjoy being a rep as I get to interact with my classmates and help them voice their opinions. I am happy to be someone they can talk to and trust to represent them. I hope to be able to help my classmates be heard and ensure staff can help improve any issues for future event students.”

“The thing I enjoy most about being a rep is the ability to represent my fellow students and voice their concerns and suggestions. 

I hope to be able to do plenty more of this in the future to ensure that no-ones voice goes unheard!”

 

Aimé Hanvey-Gamble BSc Hons Sport & Exercise  FT Year 2 Course Rep

“One thing I am enjoying so far as being a course rep is meeting new people and hearing experiences from those in the same course in other year groups, as well as hearing the view points of course directors and coming together to voice our ideas to improve the academic and social experience of our peers. This year I aim to create an environment within the university that values and amplifies the student voice, all while establishing feedback channels between students and staff to voice concerns and creating a nurturing atmosphere that allows student representation in decision-making processes and one that promotes inclusivity within discussions.”

“Being a course rep at Ulster University is a truly rewarding experience that allows me to bridge the gap between students and faculty. Alyssa Doherty  LLB Law with Criminology, Year 2 Course Rep

“As your Course Rep for Law with Criminology, I’m excited to advocate for my peers and address any concerns you may have! I look forward to enhancing our academic and social experiences through open communication between students and staff. 

My aim is to make you aware of the different opportunities available within the legal profession while prioritizing student well-being. I want to ensure that every voice is heard and valued, so feel free to reach out if you have any issues!”

 

Elliot Hatton - McAtarsney  MSc Advanced Composites and Polymers Course Rep

“I was course rep in my undergrad in first year of my undergraduate and it really helped me get involved in university life, after Covid and missing out on so much of university life I wanted to get back involved so I decided to pursue it again for my masters. Already this year I’ve been able to help my course mates resolve scheduling, timetable and blackboard queries and have really gotten to know them quite well. I love having a good relationship with my lecturers and course director because I feel like I am able to get the absolute most of my course and help make it as enjoyable for my course mates too by making sure they’re heard, valued and feel comfortable reaching out for anything from setting up study sessions to going to meetings with course directors.

 I really want to develop my leaderships and creative problem solving skills.”

What I hope to achieve as a student rep: I endeavour to foster a positive and supportive learning environment for everyone along with creating opportunities for my course to engage with each other academically and socially."

 

Marian Emmanuel MSc Management Y1 Courser Rep

"I believe this position will allow me to support my peers effectively by serving as a link between students and faculty, advocating for our collective needs and ensuring that everyone’s feedback is taken into account to improve our overall experience. 

I look forward to representing my peers, gathering their feedback, and bringing valuable insights to faculty discussions. This role lets me foster an inclusive environment where students feel empowered to voice their thoughts, helping shape a responsive academic setting. Working collaboratively with faculty and students alike, I am excited to help enhance communication and drive positive changes for a more engaging learning experience.

What you hope to achieve as a rep: As a course representative, I aim to ensure that students’ concerns and ideas are communicated effectively to the faculty. I hope to implement structured feedback channels, like regular meetings, to support continuous improvement. Additionally, I want to encourage collaboration within our cohort, creating a supportive network where students can connect and grow. My ultimate goal is to make a meaningful impact on our course experience, strengthening both academic support and community engagement"
