Dear Students,
I will be running as candidate for VP Sport & Wellbeing in this year’s leadership elections. To be the figurehead for UUSU Sport and wellbeing would be a great responsibility and one which I would be ready to take in my stride. I have been playing sport my whole life, particularly during my tenure at Ulster University Magee, and being involved in many different sports clubs means that I can understand firsthand how crucial of a role that sport plays in the life of a university student. From studying Sport, Physical Activity and Health at Magee, as well as completing my placement year in a role as a Sports Development Officer on the Magee campus, I believe I could bring a wealth of knowledge to the role. I am more than capable of taking initiative and developing a strong rapport with students which I developed during my placement year, taking on many different projects, which included organising the first 5-a-side soccer student league in Magee in over 10 years.
My primary aim as VP for Sport & Wellbeing is to provide students at Ulster University with equal opportunities and resources to enhance their experience during their education. Membership fees, facility development and promotion of recreational sport will be the primary issues that I will aim to address. I will immerse myself in daily campus life, actively working alongside UUSU sports clubs, arranging frequent club meetings to keep up to date with club activity, and addressing concerns and queries of clubs.
In electing me as your Sport & Wellbeing VP, I will aim to ensure that Ulster University is an equal and comfortable environment for all students.
Yours sincerely,
Connor O’Hagan
