UUSU Shark Tank, INVENT 2018 and Santander Awards. Competition season commences.
This Semester sees the launch of a number of internal and external enterprise competitions. These competitions offer students the opportuntiy to take their business idea or concept further. With over £100,000 of prize money and a trade mission to Calafornia up for grabs entering any of these competitions could be the ticket to your entrepreneurial success.
First up we have UUSU Shark Tank
Whether you just have a fantastic idea, are at early prototyping stage or already operating a successful start-up, if you feel you have a viable business or product and could use some financial backing, then UUSU Shark Tank is just the ticket for you.
UUSU Enterprise is looking for entrepreneurs to pitch their business concepts, products, social innovations and services to a panel of successful business leaders and industry experts in hopes of landing £2,000 of funding to help take their ideas to the next stage. Next up we have INVENT 2018
Invent is Catalyst Inc's annual competition supported by headline sponsor Bank of Ireland UK. It showcases and rewards local innovations and proof of concept ideas that have the greatest commercial potential. It’s an opportunity to gain high-profile exposure; to validate your idea and to unlock a quality network of influencers. There’s also a prize fund of £33,000 to be shared by the winners!

The final competition this semester is Santander Universities Entrepreneurshp Awards
With over £90k of equity free funding available this year, this annual Santander competition rewards entrepreneurs by offering cash prizes, mentoring and start-up support and have so far given away more than £340,000 to start-ups and small businesses. This competition is perfect for students with an idea or prototype of a business, social enterpise or innovative product. Students will submit a 2 min video showcasing their idea along with a completed business model canvas. Ulster University will then pick the best Technology and Non-Technology ideas that will go on to represent Ulster University at the regional heat.

All participants in any of the above competitions can avail of one-to-one mentoring and support from a UUSU Enterprise Advisor, with specialist support also provided from an industry expert.
