Make the most of your time at the Uni and start your own Society! We'll help you:
Once your society gets the official stamp of approval (Jodie will talk you through this simple process) you will be eligible to apply for funding from our central pot.
This can cover start-up costs such as posters and flyers, or cover expenses for your first event (excluding alcohol!).
You are also able to raise your own funds through your membership fee or events. You can use this funding in any way you like.
You will have your own space on this website to promote your group: and students can also sign up online, they just need to then drop their membership fee up to the General Office on each campus.
We also encourage you to use social media, and connect with Ulster SU so we can help you promote your group.
Our SU designer can also help you with designing posters and getting these printed.
All of your committee members are encouraged to attend society’s induction at the beginning of the semester. This covers important aspects of running a society, including:
- Event planning and health & safety
- Encouraging increased membership
You will also have the opportunity to meet other societies and pick up ideas and support from them!
As a committee member you can work towards accreditation for yourself through the EDGE Award.
Your whole society can also work towards the STAMPS awards: through this you can win extra funding and support, such as printing or pop-up stands for promoting yourselves.
Both you and your whole society could also be up for a Student Recognition Award at the end of Semester 2 – this event recognises all of our volunteers, and you could be one of them!
