Hey guys,

I would like to welcome all the new, international and returning students of UU Belfast. I hope you all have had a great summer and are ready to work hard and play hard! I would also like to congratulate everyone on getting through your exams.

For those that don’t know me from the campus, I have just graduated from fine and applied art this year. I have been involved in the Students' Union since my foundation year, four years ago. I have seen the ups and downs of the Students' Union on the Belfast campus and I decided that I wanted to do something about it, so I got involved in the Students' Union.   I wanted to have my say, I would urge you all to do this. Get involved and see the change in the Students' Union.

All the problems may not be able to be fixed in one year, but they can be addressed and brought to light so that we can work together to gradually fix these issues. This is why I would ask that you get involved in the Students' Union so that the final result is one that you the students have brought about. 

Not only is getting involved in the Students' Union is a great way to bring about change in the university, but the skills you will develop as a part of UUSU will be invaluable throughout your working life.   I highly recommend your participation!

You can get involved as a class representative bringing to light the negative and positive issues within your class.  You can also get involved by joining your campus council or by setting up a society, which can get funding for if you wish. Feel free to come and talk to me about any of these positions at any time! My office is beside the pay phones in the Foyer!

The Students' Union is here for you and here to help you through your time at college. We can help you with health, finance, welfare and educational issues.   If I cannot help you personally then I will get some one who can help you and make sure it is dealt with. We have a team of well-experienced staff, if you have any problems, let us see if we can help!
